The Avenue of the Roses
A kilometer-long path in the park that is lined with thousands of roses. While it leads to the Maze, the perspective makes it seem like it leads to Scaligero Castle.
The Maze
Opened in 2011, this labyrinth stretch over an area of 2,500 square meters. It has a pagoda in the center, and the hedge is created using over 1,500 yew trees.
The Hermitage
This building was originally built in 1792 by Marquis Antonio Maffei. Its windows look over the grotto, and there is a vast flowering area stretching from here to the Great Lawn.
The Great Lawn
These expansive laws at the center of the park look like a soft green carpet. Around it are wooded areas and flowering lakes, and the famous 400-year-old Great Oak.
The Votive Grotto
First known as Gianna's Grotto, this was originally a space for conversation, built for the Marquis Maffei. It was later dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes in 1942.
Romeo and Juliet Horizontal Sundial
Created in 1990, this sundial features geometrical carvings and representations of the sun. It is an “all-day sundial” and is dedicated to Galileo Galilei.
Water Gardens
The water gardens are filled with water lilies and Japanese Koi carp. The waters also reflect the nearby reflection of the Scaligero Castle. During Tulipanomania, they feature colorful rotating tulip beds.
Medicinal Herb Garden
This small area is dedicated to growing over 40 different plants with special therapeutic and medicinal properties. The garden also features a carved lion by the sculptor Giuseppe Brigoni.
The Castelletto
Built by Marquis Maffei this neo-Gothic building was originally used as the "Armoury", and was where he held meetings with leading scientists and Nobel Prize winners like Gerhard Domagk and Alexander Fleming.
The Dog Cemetery
Located near the Hermitage, this quiet area is a resting place for the faithful pets of the Sigurtà family. The hemicycle pond is filled with white lilies and features a dog sculpture of a Belgian shepherd.
The Farm & Deer Valley
An educational farm can teach both adults and children about all kinds of farmyard animals. There is a special area for the fallow deer in the park, and you can see their majestic antlers and reddish coats.
Park Railway
